Phoon Yew Sang was with ING Insurance Berhad for 14 years, having served as a Senior Director in the Employee Benefits Division for the last 3 years.
Drawing from his broad leadership and management experiences in this multinational insurance company, he has developed effective skills in building corporate sales, corporate relationship management teams as well as corporate negotiations. He was involved in negotiations with CEOs, senior management and various employee unions.
During his tenure with ING, he has been invited to share his extensive experience at the Asian Financial Congress in Singapore and IGP Pooling Conference in Boston.
He has managed corporate insurance programs for reputable corporations such as Digi, Ericsson, ExxonMobil, IBM, Intel, KLCC, Kraft, Maxis, MISC, Pemandu, Petronas, Prince Court Medical Centre, Statschippac, Texas Instruments, Western Digital, etc.
He has developed and led corporate sales and relationship management teams towards sustained market leadership. In ING Insurance, he managed, trained and coach-the-coach for a team of 270 staff and built the market share of corporate insurance from 10% to 59% in July 2010, when he took early retirement. He has also mediated and managed conflict situations between top levels of management to intra and inter-departmental situations and external parties (corporate intermediaries, clients, medical providers and employees of clients).
In response to his passion and calling to bring about positive impact to others, he now devotes his time in training business leaders and corporate managers as well as leaders of non-profit organizations both locally and abroad.
He is also a Trustee with Yayasan Sunbeams Home, which cares and provides for the orphaned, abused, neglected and abandoned children.
